We're always used to having things whittled down to better get the hang of it for an easier crowd. Of course, with the way the comics company is going now, they'd probably judge it as being to 'cutesy' for their 'hardcore' line of (terrible) comics.
Well, I'd imagine he'd learn about it eventually, but I don't think he'd learn how to control flying, let alone leaving the ground, right on the spot; he would have to keep practicing to get it right. In fact, some mentally handicapped people can often master a foreign language just by hearing it for the first time.
